Late night

Been a tough week at work so haven't posted for a few days now, and unfortunately surf was non-existant on the weekend, though there was some wind and I got out, I didn't take any photos. One mate did and I'm yet to get a copy of some photos he took as there should be some good ones in there....

Anyways enough of the photos I don't have and on with one I did get. Here's a nice shot after work one night as I left my office. The moon was right there big and bright and was a clear night too. With my new tripod I can now get some decent long shutter shots to catch that great night shot so here is one from the first decent go at it I've had and incidently its now my new backgound enjoy....

Surf should be back up this weekend so hoping to get something to show from it

Friday 13th....are you scared?

Well fitting for Friday the 13th, the swell in Sydney would have scared even the bravest, but then some went and conquered their fears, and the reward.... well i'll let you decide....

Breakfast at Manly, Nth Steyne...12ft

Lunch at Makaha..... I got this at 20ft + !!!!
Lunch leftovers for your mate....

What a day!!, after being gob smacked by the sheer size of the swell around, I retreated to Pittwater to relax and get away from the swell and enjoy what wind there was available......

I'll post some more when I get some time, but till then enjoy!!!

Week of visitors in July....

July saw some family visit me in Sydney, unfortunately the Winter weather decided to visit also... blue skies for weeks before, hardly any rain and then literally out of the blue skies came the clouds and slight rain, though it must be said it was warmer than Adelaide the week before, which is where they were.... It was an opportune time to visit the Blue Mountains on the one day it seemed we had a break in the weather, and what a sight it was. In 5 years or so that I've been in Sydney, I had never managed to get a good look at the Blue Mountains, until the day I went as a guide.... check it out

Love the Chuck Norris Reference on the last photo there, puts a smile on the worn out expressions of everyone an hour into the walk We the weather is favourable like t was for us, the blue mountains and wentworth falls are truly majestic, your eyes will be wide open the whole time and you'll definitely be amazed that a place like this exist...

Following the blue mountains, the northern  beaches, my home were a great spot for some R&R...

Followed by a couple of pints and a cow as we referred to it at the 4 Pines Mirco Brewery in Manly... check out the size of the burgers there, tasty and definitely filling...

I'll post some more photos after the weekend, I have a visitor down, and I'm sure the photo opportunities will be there...

Winter weekend....

With blue skies and nice and clean swell rolling in, you forget its August, the tail end of the Aussie winter, that is till you get in the water!... but then, you soon forget how cool it is and make the most of it ...

As I grabbed breakfast at Queenscliff beach, I saw this bodyboarder DK'n the break and consistently getting pitted. I shot a few rounds, finished my B+E with my coffee and then got in on the barreling action myself!!.

I wasn't the only one inspired by this guy to get into the waves, and pretty soon this guy and his break got too crowded, and well we've all been dropped in on, but I'm sure this guy didn't care in the end, he got a dozen decent DK barrels and finished up as soon as I got in the water, exhausted no doubt...

I grabbed lunch after I got out of the water and headed over to Curly, were I was sure to see some more action... more exposed to the incomming swell, coupled with a sand bar, the swell here was not for the faint hearted, as can be seen by the thick lip on some of the next shots, had a bit of trouble with the focus, which had more to do with the fact I was shooting without a tri pod, and after an hr of holding up my 70-200 f2.8 my arm was getting sore, so the next are the best of a bad lot, but you still get a sense of the intensity of the day.... I jumped in soon after these shots, and must say was knackered at the end, ready for a feast and an arvo warming the couch...

The boarders on the south end were definately in heaven, some surfers braved the thick lip. But in the end, the swell won and Curly claimed a victim....

Whilst shooting my photos, I looked up at the blue sky, and Red Barron's and his mates were out enjoying the best of the blue skies..

Next weekend, the wind may be up so I'm hoping to get out and windsurf, but enough on that for now, best not talk about the wind too early or else i'll scare off the forescast!...

Sandon Point.....

What a way to start the day..... shot 500 photos in 20mins on the way to work after seeing A frames and barrels at Sandon point from the top of Bulli Pass, seen so many good days there I wasn't going to pass shooting this one...

This next sequence is from the one surfer on one wave....72 shots total, but can't post them all....

There were more, but only got time for these now, missed 2 very deep barrels, which I though the surfer was munched for sure but they emerged, only to annoy me by not grabbing what would have been awesome shots, but eh, you win some you lose some......
